Television is Haram or Halal!!!

You tell me I think it depends on the circumstances if it coming in conflict with prayer or family yes then it is. but to find out about the world NO it isnt..!!!

It all depends on the content you are viewing. It doesn't fall under the same circumstances as a photo being haram, but if you see uncovered women or any other haram topic you shouldn't watch it, with the exception of the new, but you should still lower your gaze if it is an uncovered women and you are male.

Allah says one hour for Allah and one hour for yourself is sufficient, and of course it should not get in the way of prayers or anything else obligatory.

it depends entirely on the contect of the television program and the reason it is being watched. we should search for knowledge everywhere we can find it, even to china. so educational programs are cool.
if i am trying to give dawa to someone who loves the survivor tv show it could be worthwhile to watch it as a way to start a conversation and relate things to prophetic teachings and get a foot in the door. of course other than that the tv show seems to be entirely fake and pointless, for me anyway. so i believe it depends on the intention behind the tv program being watched.
of course we are allowed to have some leisure time too :)
family guy is just funny, i do not learn things from it typically, it just really makes me laugh. is it a waste of time? maybe. perhaps the leisure time of watching something like that does more good than bad, it can help to recharge our barttery so we do not get burned out on "important" things.
