we may as well get some debates going in here

*it is our responsibility as Muslims to study the scriptures of all religions.

yeah probably, since in the koran they reference hella stories in the bible and stuff, so just to get more info. i'd like to study buddism just to see what it's about, but at the same time it takes away from the time you have to study islam.

but like 2pac said keep ya enemies close, and part of that is studying them, mastering there style so you know where they are coming from so if you can relate to them when you talk to them about islam, plus all religions have the same basic moral convictions it's just the rules of how to live you life that differ, how to pray, what happens after death. but studying islam you see it's the true religion so i don't think studying another religion with change your faith but to make it stronger.

one luv

i mean understand, i'm just a young dub ballin. ya bird? like G be like to his mother who is buddist. you don't ever worry about praying to buddah taking way from your prayers, and she said you never heard the expresion kill the buddah, and when she told me i'm a young man with an old soul i told her i learned everything i know from the koran and she's like ish you should buy me that book for christmas, cuz i was like allah put prophets in every nation whether that be muhammad, jesus, abraham or buddah. so it's the same and different cuz islam is the true religion, ya bird?

yeah, i don't know about the bird stuff, but buddhism is pretty cool, and totally goes with islam. there is no doubt for me that buddha was a prophet of Allah. another one i really like is taoism, there is a lot of really deep stuff in taoism. the tao te ching is a great book. as is the dhammapada of course.

salaam,
i have read some of the writings of buddha and i am familiar with the teachings of islam. they are the same. there are an enormous number of prophets not mentioned in the quran. very few of the 124,000 are listed by name. buddha taught peace and love, he did not tell his followers to make statues of him or to meditate with a statue in front of them. if peace and love are teachings of islam, then buddha taught islam.

salam brothers
I don't think so, we must first study our religion. Our prophet does not study other religion, islam is a gift give to us by ALLAH. One more thing: If u want to study other religion is not forbidden but u must have 2 thing. first u must completly beliver and understood of our religion islam. Second u must ask yourself of really u need to do that??
take care and have a nice day
salam
yahya
